Are you planning any private parties in Singapore? It can be your child's birthday party, reunion, baby shower, fundraiser, etc. Private parties can also extend to corporate team-building sessions, product launches, trade shows, conferences, networking events, shareholders meetings. Or you may want to celebrate a special event for your pet friends. Regardless of the type of event you wish to host, it can be challenging to find an appropriate space for rent.

12 tips to rent the suitable event space for your needs

The following tips will guide you in selecting and renting the appropriate corporate private event space rental when planning to host your next event.

Specify your needs

The first step to finding an appropriate indoor space rental is understanding your specific event needs. For instance, it could be a themed party, a private party, a corporate event, or a special event for pets. It will help you determine the following aspects that you need to consider when choosing an event space rental.

Capacity

You should decide on the number of guests you need to invite based on your specific event needs. The shortlisted event space should comfortably accommodate all your guests. You also need to consider the venue's layout and determine whether it will suit your needs. This includes the various areas it offers, seating arrangements, etc. For instance, Oracle Studio covers an area of 1199 sq. ft., with an outdoor space/balcony area. We can accommodate 40 seated and 50 standing guests.

Ambience

Depending on the ambience you want to create on your event day, select a venue accordingly. For instance, consider their lighting arrangements and the overall aesthetics of the venue.

Amenities and facilities

When choosing the right venue, you need to consider the amenities and facilities it offers. For instance, it should have a restroom and changing area and be suitable for making meal arrangements. In addition for corporate events, you may need audio-visual equipment, sound systems, etc., to give speeches or video presentations.

Customisation option

Different events have varying needs. Hence, you need to consider the customisation options that the event space rental offers before you choose to rent the same. For instance, are they flexible enough to allow you to bring your party planner, decorators, vendors, etc., to make necessary arrangements at the venue according to your style and preference? Oracle Studio is quite flexible in this regard.

Catering options

Food is an integral part you can't ignore regardless of the type of event you are hosting. Many event venues offer in-house catering services that you can customise according to your needs. You can even sample their menu options to ensure they suit your preferences and dietary requirements. Otherwise, you can hire your preferred caterer for the event. Oracle Studio can accommodate your caterers. We can also suggest a list of caterers who have previously worked for different events at our studio.

Location

Location is another critical aspect when renting an indoor space for your next event. It is better to select an event space at a convenient location that is easily accessible for your guests, either through public transport, taxis or private hire cars. Adequate parking spaces should be easily available for car owners.

Budget

Once you are satisfied with all the above mentioned aspects, it's time to set a budget. Based on your event needs, decide how much you have allocated for renting an event space. In many cases, your budget will likely vary based on the hours you rent a venue.

Visit the venue

Sometimes, judging a space only based on the photographs available can be challenging. Hence, we encourage our clients to visit our space to clearly understand the layout, ambience, amenities, facilities, etc. Besides, checking out our amenities will help you determine what other equipment – if needed – you need to carry by yourselves on the event day.

Time and date availability

Next, you must check the date and time availability with the event venue. The rates for weekdays and weekends may vary. If your event dates are flexible, you may rent the venue at a comparatively cheaper rate. It is better to enquire about different options to get the most value.

Reviews

You can check online reviews to get an honest insight about an event space before renting one. These reviews will help you better understand the venue's services, support, and overall experience. It will help you make an informed decision.

Understand terms and conditions

You must read the terms and conditions thoroughly and understand them before agreeing. Understanding cancellation or postponement, refund, deposit, and other policies will help you to be clear on what to expect from renting the event venue.

How do you use a Green Screen for Content Creation?

Using a green screen can help create visual effects for your content during post-production. Based on your content needs, you may want to shoot your subject in various locations. However, without actually travelling to those locations, you can create a similar background using a green screen. During the post-production phase, the chroma key process makes the green background transparent and replaces it with your preferred visuals. You can rent a content creation studio that also provides you with a green screen to capture stunning visuals of your subject. Content creators often use green screens for various types of photoshoots and videos

Content creators often use green screens for various types of photoshoots and videos.

6 tips for using a green screen for content creation

Whether you want to record marketing or product videos or capture amazing photos of your subject in different locations, a green screen can make your job easier. However, you need to understand the right way to use a green screen to create desired visual effects. The following tips can guide you in this regard.

Lighting arrangement

Lighting is a critical aspect of every type of visual content, more so when you are using a green screen. When shooting with a green screen, you need even lighting for both background and foreground. Further, if the green background is not evenly lit, the chroma key will have issues separating the light shades from the dark, which might make it difficult to create a transparent background. Further, your lighting arrangements should match the type of environment you want to create. For instance, if you want to create a visual where your subject is standing on a busy road at night or in front of a beach during dawn, midday, dusk, etc., you need to select the appropriate lighting accordingly. It will help ensure seamless integration when you replace the green screen with the chosen visuals.

Position of your subject

Another critical aspect of using a green screen is the positioning of your subject. Lights can help eliminate shadows on the green screen. Additionally, you should also position your subject in the appropriate place to avoid possible shadows. Besides, you need to ensure your camera is steady. It can help avoid small tremors that might cause blurs in the image.

Use low aperture

Opening up the aperture of your camera lens can lead to a lower F-stop number, which can further lead to a shallow depth of field. Placing subjects a few feet apart from the green screen can help avoid shadows. However, if your focus on the subject is sharp, the green screen might appear softer in the background. A soft focus on the green screen can help it blend uniformly in the background.

High shutter speed

Setting your camera to a high shutter speed can help avoid motion blur. For instance, when shooting photos or recording videos, if your subject is still, it is better to keep the shutter speed double your frame rate. If your subject is moving, it is better to apply a higher shutter speed. High shutter speed helps change the exposure of the image.

Adjust native ISO

ISO sensitivity represents the sensitivity to light. If you set ISO at a high level, you will likely get grain on your visual content, which might make the chroma key process difficult. Every digital camera has a native ISO that varies according to camera type. The native ISO is best for the sensor as it doesn't require increasing the voltage to enhance exposure when shooting in low light.

Start shooting

With everything set, it's time to shoot your photos or videos. It is better to plan ahead for your shoot, such as deciding on the visuals you want to capture. It will ensure you and your crew members are clear about the actions to take during the shoot. Further, avoid keeping any object or clothing in the same colour as the background. It will help prevent a green spill, an interference with the green screen.

Editing Your Visual Content After Shooting

Now that you have captured visuals for your photos and videos with a green screen, it is time to move into the post-production phase for proper editing. The purpose of using a green screen is to make the editing process easier. You can use various editing software to replace the green screen with the appropriate visuals. You must keep the following things in mind while editing your visuals.

  • Create a rough draft to avoid editing shots that you don’t plan to use

  • When selecting a background for your subject, consider the depth of the scene. In this regard, adjust the dimensions of the selected background to match it with the foreground

Once the final editing is done, export your photos or videos in the desired size and format. You need to select the format based on your content needs and media types.

Oracle Studio is a studio rental for photography & videography that also offers a green screen for content creators. You can rent our studio for your next photoshoot or marketing videos, YouTube videos, etc., and create the desired visuals with our green screen.

Pre-photoshoot checklist for Oracle Studio

Whether you are a creator, business owner, photographer, etc., we want you to have an amazing shooting experience at our studio. Hence, we have compiled the following checklist to ensure you have a seamless photography session at our content creation studio.

Inspect the location

We know you visited our studio before finalising the rental agreement. However, we would still suggest you visit us once again before your final shoot. This visit can help you develop a creative brief (which we will discuss in the next point), identify challenges, etc. Doing so will allow you to better prepare for creative solutions on the day of the shoot.

Develop a creative brief

You should develop a creative brief outlining your objectives for your shoot and detailed information about your shots, such as lighting arrangements, desired camera angles, etc. Sharing this information with your team members and studio staff helps ensure that everyone is on the same page for the project requirements. It finally helps improve productivity, efficiency, and seamless photoshoots.

Communicate with studio staff

It is better to communicate clearly with our studio staff about whether you have any specific requirements for your photoshoot, etc. It will help us offer you the requirements before your photoshoot.

Test your equipment beforehand

To avoid unnecessary issues, it is better to organise and check all your equipment before the shoot. This includes checking camera gear, lenses, batteries, chargers, memory cards, etc. During your studio visit, you have already checked our amenities and features. Hence, on our end, you must ensure everything you need to carry on your shooting day is in proper order. Avoid leaving it till the last minute so that you can be well prepared for your photoshoot.

Organise your wardrobe and makeup requirements

Depending on the type of photoshoot you are conducting, you may need to arrange for wardrobe and makeup. Ensure that all the clothing items needed for the photoshoot are ready. You can use our clothing rack and cloth steamer for final preparation. However, ensure you have everything ready with you. It is also a good idea to ensure your makeup artist is present during the shoot to help models with required touch-ups whenever needed.

Set a practical timeline

Studio rentals are available at hourly rates. So, plan your photoshoot with enough buffer time and rent a studio for that many hours to ensure a smooth and efficient photoshoot session. For instance, calculate the time it might take to set up and tear down the shooting arrangements, breaks, etc., and include them when deciding how many hours you need to rent the studio for.

Carry an emergency production kit

Despite your careful planning, there can be unforeseen issues and challenges on the shooting day. Hence, we advise you to prepare an emergency production kit and carry it with you. It can include essential tools like an extra extension cord, multi-tool, gaffer tape, etc.

Catering and refreshments

Photoshoots can be lengthy. Hence, to ensure your clients, models, and team members get comfortable throughout the photography session, you need to provide them with refreshments. You can hire catering services to provide everyone on the set with meals, beverages, snacks, etc. You can ask them about their dietary restrictions or preferences when making meal arrangements.

Share responsibilities

Based on the skills of your team members, assign them appropriate roles. For instance, some members should be responsible for managing lighting, while others should be responsible for wardrobe and makeup, a separate team for backdrop and prop arrangements, etc. It can help you manage the entire photoshoot efficiently with maximum productivity.

Backup plan

On the final day of the photoshoot, any sudden issues may occur. For instance, despite checking your gear the previous day, you may still experience equipment malfunction, or a crew member might cancel at the last moment, etc. Preparing a backup plan can help you deal with these issues promptly and ensure a smooth photoshoot experience.

Oracle Studio offers studio rental for photography & videography. The type of subject you want to shoot at our studio, such as lifestyle content, product photos or videos, portrait photography, etc., can be varied. However, this detailed guide will help you experience a seamless booking procedure and maximise your time at our studio for an amazing photography session.

Shooting In-Studio or On-location: Which one is better for your marketing videos?

Videos are an effective form of business marketing as they help improve audience reach and engagement. Therefore, when it comes to shooting your marketing videos, it is natural to compare the pros and cons of in-studio and on-location shoots to make the best decision. Both have merits and demerits for video production. Understanding these aspects can help you make an informed decision about where to shoot your brand videos.

In-studio vs. On-location shooting

On-location shooting for marketing videos

Marketing videos can consist of various types – explainer, testimonials, promotional, commercial, education, product, etc. Therefore, based on the types of videos you want to create, you can select either in-studio or on-location options. Let's discuss their pros and cons to help you make an informed decision for your next corporate video.

Scheduling and availability

You can rent a content creation studio either for shooting photos or videos. The procedure is quite simple. You need to contact the person-in-charge, enquire about the dates available and accordingly rent the venue.

On the other hand, shooting on-location might involve specific logistical issues. For instance, you must scout for locations to select the appropriate ones based on your video requirements. In this regard, you may need to visit multiple sites to determine which best suits your needs. All these may cost you time and use of resources. Finally, you need to check for venue availability.

Hence, when comparing both options, scheduling brand videos at a professional videography studio is easier.

Expenses

The expenses involved in shooting in-studio or on-location depend on various factors. For instance, shooting in a studio involves paying a fixed rate based on the number of hours you rent. Besides, they can provide you with props, backdrops, a green screen, etc., to help create your desired videos. On the other hand, based on the location you plan to shoot videos, various factors such as permits, rental expenses, possible set design, etc., can affect the costs. Hence, based on your video requirements, we suggest comparing the fees involved in shooting at both options to decide what's best for you.

Convenience

You need to consider various aspects to determine whether in-studio or on-location is better. These include – the number of crew members including talents or models, designated areas to get ready, washroom availability, parking space, Wi-Fi connection, etc. Usually, a professional studio for videography can help take care of all these aspects.

Flexibility and control

While a studio may offer a fixed space to record your videos, you can customise it according to your needs. You can set up a green screen or use backdrops, props, etc., to design the set at your convenience. Most studios will provide you with such amenities. On the other hand, when you are shooting on-location, you get exactly what you see. There is little flexibility. Moreover, if you want to design the shooting set, it can be expensive as you must bear the expenses for all the items needed.

Lighting and sound

Lighting and sound are critical aspects of recording marketing videos. When shooting in a studio, you have complete control over these aspects. A professional studio can make necessary arrangements if you need natural or artificial lighting. However, when shooting on-location, you do not have much control over nature. The natural lighting will vary based on the time of the day or month or specific weather conditions you are shooting in. Besides, the time needed to record marketing videos varies based on the type of content you want to create. You cannot entirely depend on natural light when shooting videos for extended periods. The reason is even a minor shift in light can easily be noticed in videos. When shooting in a studio, you can control this element even if it takes time to finish the shoot.

Similarly, a studio can offer you wired/wireless lavalier mics or super cardoid dynamic mics when recording sounds for your videos. Besides, you can use their amenities such as a microphone, mic amplifier, etc. On the other hand, shooting in an outdoor location will likely involve recording unnecessary background sound, which you must remove during the editing phase.

Takeaway

The above discussion highlights the advantages and disadvantages of creating brand videos in a studio and on-location. Therefore, based on your budget, the types of brand messages you want to deliver, the aesthetics, and the nature of your video, you can determine the location of your shoot. If a professional studio can meet all your marketing video needs, you can rent one. Besides, renting them along with the studio can be beneficial if you need to use different equipment–including lighting and sound, backdrops, props, etc. - and want to avoid bearing additional expenses on the same. Finally, you need to understand your audience and the content type they resonate with. It will help you create the right kind of corporate videos at a proper location.

Oracle Studio is a pet-friendly photography studio rental where you can shoot various subjects, including lifestyle content, product photos, etc. We offer a wide range of amenities to ensure you capture some great pictures and have a seamless photography session at our studio. This blog will highlight our various amenities to help you with your studio photography projects.

Lights

Lights are critical to showing emotions in an image. Photographers who understand light properly can create a wide range of images. Natural and artificial lights have their own benefits when shooting inside a studio.

As you can understand, the light from the sun or moon is natural. One of the significant benefits of natural lighting is that it is cost-effective. You can use various gadgets, such as reflectors and diffusers, to help maximise natural lighting results. Besides, if you are a beginner, natural light is a great option to experiment with. It will help you understand how lights work better.

Along with its benefits, natural light has some disadvantages, such as its unpredictability. The natural light quality will vary based on the time of the day, month, season, or location of your shooting. As a result, it can affect your photos' intensity or even colour.

In such cases, you can use artificial lights from electric light fixtures to generate the desired effects in your photos. Compared to natural lighting, you have more control over artificial lights. As a result, if you shoot multiple products for many hours, you can shoot in artificial light without worrying about the light changing. However, the downside of artificial lighting is that the lighting equipment and accessories can be expensive for some photographers. Besides, they need the help of experienced professionals in order to be properly setup. A photography studio like Oracle Studio can help you in this case.

Based on the style or products of the brand you are shooting for, you need to determine whether natural or artificial light will work best for you. Natural lighting can be a better option in some cases, while artificial lights will do well in others. It all comes down to specific shoots.

Understanding the specific lighting needs of photographers and videographers, our studio offers the following amenities.

What Factors Should You Consider When Renting A Photography Studio?

Photography studios allow you to shoot a wide variety of subjects, including individuals, pets, and various products. Whether you need to shoot your subjects for marketing purposes or an event, you need to rent a studio with all the amenities required for photography. To select the right photography studio rental for your specific needs, you need to consider a few factors. This blog will guide you on how to rent the right studio for your photography needs.

7 Factors to Consider When Renting a Photography Studio

Are you planning to rent a photography studio? You should consider the following aspects to select the proper studio for your photography needs.

Location

Based on your shooting requirements, you need to determine where you want your studio to be. For instance, it can be at a prime location or the outskirts. Hence, consider your options to select the proper studio at your preferred locations.

Amenities

One of the critical aspects of renting a photography studio is checking the amenities they provide. It includes the following –

  • Proper lighting

  • Adequate temperature control

  • Changing rooms

  • Private washrooms

Lighting

When selecting a photography studio, consider its artificial and natural lighting arrangements. Natural lighting provides softer and less intrusive lighting compared to artificial lighting. Besides, it helps add an organic look and feel to your photos. However, as you cannot control natural lighting, it can become unreliable at certain times.

On the other hand, photographers can control artificial lighting in the studio. Depending on how bright you want your studio lighting to be, you can adjust the artificial lighting accordingly. Moreover, these lights can help to add more dramatic effects to your photos. The flash kits needed for artificial lighting can be more affordable compared to the natural lighting options.

Size

Based on your type of photography work, you need to select a studio that has adequate space to meet your needs.

For instance, consider the type and size of your photography gear you will be using in the studio. If you need additional equipment, such as backdrops or anything else, your studio space should be large enough to accommodate them. Additionally, you should consider the area you and your team require to move around comfortably while taking photos. Moreover, many people might need to be present at the studio during the shoot, such as clients, models, etc. You may also need to use props or create sets for your photography. Considering all these aspects will help you decide how much space you need to work comfortably and rent a photography studio accordingly.

Electrical outlets

When conducting a studio photography session, you’ll likely need various tools and equipment. Furthermore, to operate these tools, you will require power outlets. Hence, when renting a photography studio, ensure it has plenty of power outlets at strategic positions to offer you the needed support to run the equipment you need.

Ceiling height

When it comes to photography, the distance between the subject and the camera is a critical aspect. In this regard, the height of your studio is crucial. With a low ceiling, you may find it challenging to place the lights in your preferred positions. Ensure that the ceiling of your studio is sufficiently high enough for your photography needs.

Cost

Last but not least, another important aspect to consider is the cost. A rental photography studio can be expensive. It includes upfront costs such as rent, utilities, etc. Hence, when renting a studio, compare the rental prices for the hours you need it and the amenities you are getting to determine whether it allows you to complete your photography session seamlessly within your time and budget.

Oracle Studio offers you a studio rental for photography & videography. Whether you need to conduct a photoshoot or create videos, rent our content creation studio for taking visually stunning photos and videos.
